Wash day @ 16 Weeks post

I did my wash on Wednesday which was the 19th of last week. Here's how it went.

1. I Pre-poo/Deep Condition w/my Elasta QP, olive/grape seed oil, Vo5 moisture milks, & coconut oil. Left that on for about a hr and a half wrapped up real tight.
2. Rinsed that out and shampooed with 1Oz of a mixture of NTM creamy shampoo & Giovanni tea tree triple shampoo 5Oz of water. Shampooed 2x with my hair parted down the middle.
3. Rinsed that out- then poured my black tea rinse over my hair and then slathered it with Joico daliy balance conditioner. Let that sit for the remainder of my shower. Then washed that out.
4. Wrap braids up in a old T-shirt. Waited till hair was about 80% dry and then greased my scalp with my JBCO. Sprayed my Spritz all over my hair then sealed with my olive/grape seed oil, followed by my Cantu she butter.

This washed day was really simple and quick. My hair has finally chosen the oils that works best for it, which I stated in the beginning of the post. I finally have my routine day pack a week before I take it out. Lol. I plan on taking my braids down the day after new years and I can't wait. But I'm still undecided what to do next to my hair!!

Box Braid Protective Style: Moisturizing

Hey guys,

I just wanted to share with you guys how I keep my hair properly moisturize while I'm doing my box braid protective style.
The basics of my moisturizing process is to still follow the L.O.C. Method. But I do change it up when I feel that my hair needs that extra boost. When I did my co-wash last week I used my new growth Spritz as my liquid, my grape seed/olive oil mix, and then to seal all that goodness with my Cantu shea butter leave in repair cream. When I do this on my braids I make sure to be a little heavy handed on the products to make sure it penetrates. So that way I could go a whole week with out having to put anything on again. I may spray a little Spritz to freshen my hair up but thats about it.
I know I did a good job when days later I can squeeze a braid between two fingers and get a creamy residue on my finger. I know you thinking RESIDUE ewww or RESIDUE product build up. But no its very light where I know my hair is not parched and in need of something to drink. Now the other day when I was redoing some braids, my ends were dry dry. I sat down grab the Cantu, dab a little on my finger, and apply it to each individual braid. That was about 2 days ago and I still have moisture in my braids.
I try not to over power my hair with products either were my hair can not dry or its to much moisture it will just sit in the braids and on top of my hair. You still have to keep your hair well balance even though its protected. I know it my be hard to listen to your hair in this style, I say just have good judgment.
I hope this post was helpfully! Feel free to comment and let me know what you do to moisturize your protective styles!!

College Vox Box From Influenster

So I had this box before Thanksgiving and I'm ready to do a review on what I received in the box!!!

First thing that I used out the box was the NYC New York Color Show Time Glitter eyeliner pencil. Was well pigmented and creamy with just the right hint of glitter. I wore it for Thanksgiving and I received a lot of compliments. I have wore it several times and it just keeps getting amazing with each different eye kook that I do!
Next was thing I received was the Pentel EnerGel-X Campaign Pen which I absolutely love. I have a secret addiction to pens and this one jus made it to the top of my list. The way it writes reminds me of a freshly sharpened pencil the way that it give you that professional look without trying so hard.
After that in the box I received the ImPress Press-on Manicure. I'll admit I'm a lil slow. The box said done in minutes it took me an half an hour to do. But next time should bw faster since I now know the process. The print on the nails that I received was very elegant, like I could where them to a wedding. So will be purchasing these!!
Tropical Necco Wafers were the next thing I got in the box. All I can say it tasty tasty tasty tasty! Love it.
And the last thing that was in the box was the Energy Sheets. They were a good pick me up like a 5-hour energy drink.

Dino Lingo Review

This just a short review for influenster of the Dino Lingo educational videos. Keniya(my 3 month old) and I just finish watching the best animal song for kids learning English!!  Surprisingly I like it! I thought was going to be another cheap cartoon slide. But I was alot of 3 dimensional characters that were very colorful and not scary. Keniya giggled every time a new animal appeared on the screen. I know at this age anything with color can get her to coo. So I let my 6 year watch it with us and I asked him what he like about it. He said 'I can tell you all the animals on there.' So that means the animals were easy to  identify for him.

So I can give this review a A-

Setback: Spritzing Up My New Growth

I'm going to do a series on my setbacks while stretching my relaxer. This way if your stretching, transitioning, or just need help with your setbacks. We can help each other.
I've always had dry scalp, so I've been looking for something to keep my scalp and new growth moisturize. When I would oil my scalp with my JBCO the next day my scalp and new growth would feel dry and rough. My head seems to suck it up like a sponge no matter if I left my new growth damp or wet and then oil it, the next day it would be extremely dry.
I read a lot of reviews about Spritz and wanted to incorporate one into my regimen but had to figure out what would work well for my hair needs. I tried 3 different Spritz that mainly consisted of water, oils, and my fav leave-in at the moment. Problem though with my Spritz it was either to watery or to oily so I ended up adding it to my Pre-poo treatment.
My description of a Spritz is to simply add in moisture when needed. So if you can't wash your hair, co-wash your hair, or your leave-in is to heavy on your hair that don't want to add anymore. Then using a Spritz that is light to just give your hair the added moisture boost could help with your hair needs. You can also use your Spritz to prep your hair before a style and when your hair is start to dry out during a styling process. Spritz are multifunctional, which is why I wanted to incorporate one in my regimen. I was extremely happy with the results it gave me on my new growth.
So I'm going to tell you wants in my new growth Spritz.
1 part Aloe Vera Juice
1 squirt Vitamin E Oil (includes sweet almond oil, lemon oil, wheat germ oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, tocopherol, Rosemary extract)
1 squirt Glycerin
3 tablespoons Giovanni Direct Leave-in
20-25 drops of Jamaican Black Castor Oil.

This is what my hair loves. You can try it or switch it up to your liken, but I really hope this could help you on your journey.

Wash day @ 12 week post

Today is my official wash day with shampooing my scalp in my braided protective style. It went like this.

-Pre-poo w/ coconut oil, vitamin e oil, grape seed oil, JBCO, olive oil, VO5 body conditioner, and my Elasta QP soy oyl. Rinse.
-Shampooed w/ my shea moisture  thickening shampoo and NTM creamy shampoo. I put it in a squirt bottle with 1 part shampoo mix and 2 part water. I split hair down the middle an squirted it on both parts.  Massaged it into my scalp, rinsed, and repeated.
-Applied my Black Tea rinsed and the my VO5 moisture milk. Then I put my hair up into a bun and finished my shower. Rinse that out.
-T-shirt method my hair for about 45 minutes.
-Did my L.O.C method which I notice lease my hair really moisturize in my braids.

The reason I decided to shampoo today was when I was redoing some braids in my nape area. When I went to detangle the hair it was alot of build up on my roots. But not so much that I couldn't detangle to re-braid it.

Dark and Lovely 6-week Anti-Reversion Cream Serum Review #1

Hey Guys

New Dark and Lovely Anti-Reversion Cream Serum is our first styling product specifically developed for relaxed hair to prevent reversion and lock in shine.
Our innovative Humidity Block Technology helps eliminate curls, kinks and waves to better preserve straight, smooth hair up to 6 Weeks in-between relaxing.
It is designed to smooth hair and control frizz while keeping it soft, full of body and manageable from one shampoo to the next.

Directions: Apply a quarter size amount into palm of hand (use more or less depending on hair length) and massage through freshly shampooed and conditioned hair. Blow-dry hair thoroughly and flat iron straight. Style as desired.

DO NOT APPLY ON DRY HAIR before the use of thermal appliances to avoid damage. Use the product only as directed, on wet hair.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water Cetyl Alcohol, Paraffinum Liquidum/ Mineral Oil, Iso-stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethyl Aurea, Behentrimonium Chloride, Parfum/Fragrance, Polyquaternium-11, Phenoxyethanol, Bis-peg-12, Dimethicone Candelillate, Hydroxypropyl Guar, Amodimethicone, Isopropyl Alcohol, Trideceth-5, Stearyl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Ariginine, Hexyl Cinnamal, Trideceth-10, Linalool, Limonene,.Methylisothiazolinone, Geraniol, Citronellol, Aplha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Alcohol.

I did my regular wash day routine for this. But when I did my L.O.C. Method instead of adding my Cantu shea butter leave-in I added the anti-reversion cream serum. I comb through, finish letting it air dry, and then I proceeded to flat iron my hair then I was off. Usually as soon as I hit the air my hair starts to frizz up. But not this time my hair stayed layed flat and straight on my shoulders. This product also gave my hair shine and bounce. I loved it for the first use. For the second wash I didn't even have to flat iron it. I wrapped it and when I took it out it still had bounce and didn't frizz up

I would highly recommend this product for anyone on their relaxed healthy hair journey. For a good heat protected product.

My Skincare

Just wanted to tell you all how glorious my skin feels right now.

Well I've always been an advocate face washer. I regularly use st. Ives face scrub any particular kind, but it tended to make my skin dry even with my moisturizer. My last cleanser that I tried was the L'oreal go 360 clean. Every time I'd wash my face no matter how hard I tried I would get it in my eyes and let me tell you it would burn terribly bad. I left it alone and just stuck with the St. Ives. I still have about 1/4 left of the product which I'm going to use to strictly clean off my make-up until I find another product from them that I like. Probably a moisturizer.

I'm trying to stay away from products with sulfates or any harmful ingredient that does damage.
So I did my research and was really drawn in by kinkycurlycoilyme.com where she talks about black soap. She uses a kind that she gets in a big bulk. So I went looking for some. I have been wanting to try Ambi and when I seen that they have a black soap w/ shea butter, I had to try it.
I also been using facial masque which have been making my face feel really refresh and new!! For my moisturizer I use cocoa butter and add some oils to it!

Box braid Regimen

Just wanted to share how I'm taking care of my hair while its in a box braided protective style.
I make sure to keep my braids moisturize by spraying my braids with my Hawaiian 14 n 1 conditioner. Seal with my blend of oils, water, and my leave-in conditioner. Then using my Cantu to lock all the good ol moisture in. I do this to make sure the my hair is penetrated an able to with stand the weather and any styles that I do.
I did do a co-wash because I didn't wash my braids and they were making my scalp itch really bad. I did a apple cider vinegar rinse, a black tea rinse, and then left my V05 moisturizing conditioner on for the reminder of my shower. I wrap my had up in a t-shirt and left it on until the water was all soaked up.
I also bought a scalp spray that contains all nature oils to help with the itching and it's been doing its job so far. I only apply it 1-3 times a week when needed. I added vitamin E to my JBCO and apply that to my scalp every other day.
Most importantly is to still wrap your braids up at night with a scarf. So I put it in a ponytail so the back can be protected properly too.

Prep Wash day @ 9 Weeks post 11/3

So todays wash day is to prepare my hair for a box braid protective style. I wanted to do this from last month but I had some new products that I want to try so I waited. Anyways here's what I did.
1. I pre-pooed with my VO5 moisturizing conditioner, EVOO, the last bit of my JBCO, and EVCO. I heated that up for about 30-45 mins and then rinsed.
2. I shampooed 2x really good with my shea moisture thickening shampoo and then rinsed.
3. Applied my Joico k-pak reconstruct for the  recommended time of 5 minutes and then rinsed out. This left my hair really dry and firm.
4. Next I used my Joico daily care balancing conditioner to make sure my Ph level goes back to normal. Left that on for the recommended time of 1 minute and then rinsed out.
5. I put a towel on my head to soak up excess water and then applied my Elasta QP ultra hydration for a hour. Rinsed out, put a t-shirt on my head. applied my leave-ins, wrapped up my hair and let it dry overnight!!
It was a little damp in the back in the morning so I let it finish air drying before starting my braids. I also tired a sample I received from the beauty supply store that I will write a review after I take out my braids. Its for detangle! I also forgot 2 things. I forgotten to clarify my hair, but I  made sure to wash really good with my shea moisture shampoo. Also I forgot to wash my braiding hair before installing it but I'll just rinse it with some water really good when I'm done. Thats what happens when you have 3 kids and everyone wants their mommy! Gotta love'em. I'll post some pics tomorrow of my braids when I'm finished! Until next time thanks for reading!

Setback: Moisture Overload Written on 10/30

So today because of the weather all I did was watch the news and the sky outside. I was thinking and started to pull on my hair then stopped. What strand I had in my hand I decide to test it. I pull it made be 2 or 3 times before it snapped and the other side curled up really fast. My hair is really elastic and stretchable. I remember watching a hair guru that I love name doing a strand test, pulling her hair constantly between her fingers. For about a minute or two it didn't break. I mean it took her a good try to get that sucker to snap and when it did it stay straight. Her hair is perfect example of what well balance hair should look like.
How to get out of my setback?
Protein, protein, and more protein. Not to much to over load. But enough to balance out my hair so that the elasticity is strong to where I want it to be. My problem is that I love the way my hair feels and that could be the problem for my moisture overload. I'm also going to do a box braid protective style so I can retain length. So wish me luck!!

Wash day @ 8 Weeks post

8 Weeks into my relaxer.
I just wanted to tell you guys how my wash day went today!
1. Pre-poo w/ my V05 moisturizing conditioner, H2o Spa seaweed hair repair masque, JBCO, grapeseed oil, and a squirt of glycerin. I mixed it up and left it on my hair for a hour. A half an hour with heat and the other without but wrapped my head up with a scarf instead.
2. Washed it out and then applied my Neutrogena Triple Moisture creamy shampoo 2x. This shampoo left my hair feeling dry.
3. Wash out the shampoo and then used my Neutrogena Triple Moisture daily conditioner which knock that dryness right out
4. I then applied my L'oreal Eversleek reconstructing smoothing conditioner. As soon as I applied this on my hair the smell just knocked me off my feet. The smell of this conditioner is just lovely. This was my first time using it, so I have to give it a couple more tries before I can tell if its working for my hair or not.( I had a 2$ off coupon for it and since I still can find my suave volume conditioner im goin to give this a try)
5. I then spray my creme of nature leave-in on. Put my Cantu shea butter leave-in which is my moisturizer. Last I applied my suave keratin smooth and shine. I love the Cantu as my moisturizer because it gives my hair the moisture and softness its needs.
6. Finally I let my hair air dry. When its about 80% dry I put JBCO on my scalp. I let my hair dry straight or in a wrap.
After all this my hair is light and bouncy. So I feel good about these products so far. I like when I can get a good deal on quality products!
The Neutrogena triple moisture I got from the flea market for 2 for 5$. So I was extremely happy about that. I just want to try them a couple more times since I'm trying to find something for my moisture wash as my staple. I know for sure that the Cantu will be my staple moisturizer. But I do want to try the elasta qp olive oil and mango butter. But thats all for now.
Thanks for taking the time out to read my blog. I hope you enjoyed!!

Staple misplace!!

So I ran out of suave volumizing conditioner on my last co-wash day which was Wednesday. I even added water to the bottle shook it up to get that last bit of creaminess running thru my hair. After a month and so of using it, and then afterwards using my Joico daily balancing conditioner which I fell in love with. The suave gave my hair soft thickness and the Joico gave my hair a lovely detangling slip. I was happy, until today when I'm searching everywhere for my conditioner and it's no where to be found. Everywhere is having a sale on suave products but just not the one I need. I live in Baltimore, Maryland so we have a flea market that is pack with home essentials for your every need.I find a vendor that has everything except my suave conditioner and I start browsing. I get a Giovanni tea tree triple treat invigorating shampoo 8.5 FL oz and Renpure Organics I love my hair 13.5 FL oz that I got both for 2$ each, can you say a steal!!!
I thought things were going good. I got me another all natural conditioner to substitute my suave's for right now, until I get home and take me a closer look. My Renpure Organics is a shampoo. Things just seemed to go from bad to worst. I have 2 good protein and thickening shampoos. I even tried to stop at Marshall and see what I can grab, but again I turn up empty handed. So now I have to put my wash day off to Sunday when I get home after I try again tomorrow. I am determined and I will not give up. ;-)
Just wanted to tell you guys how my day went. Thanks for reading!!

Things I wish I knew before having a GIRL!

I wish I was told how much of a diva she would be when she came out!
I wish I was told how hard it would be for her to transition to a bottle because with my boys they weren't so picky!
That a two months, when you get her started talking that she doesn't know when to stop!
That she can poop in her sleep and when she's finish throw up to wake herself up!!
To get a full body bib cause she will keep squirming until the breast milk comes back up all over me!!!
She'd be hungry right after she threw up!
I wish the would tell me how many outfits I would go thru with her!
That at night it would be a fight to get her to sleep in her bed, then ends up in mines until she falls asleep!
That is all!!

Love Hate

Everybody has a love hate relationship with their hair sometimes. But with me its a love one side not so much the other. Lol. My left side seems to be reaping all the benefits on my hair journey. Less breaking, less spit ends, and most important to me its not as frizzy as the other side. When I air dry its more layed then my right. But I'm on my mission to get my hair to a healthier state then it is in now.

Sunday I did my monthly clarifying. Afterwards, I did a protein treatment with my joico k-pack reconstruct and then a moisture treatment with my Aussie 3 min deep conditioner. It was my first time using the k-pak and it smelled like bananas. I absolutely loved it!!!!! It also didn't make my hair dry and hard like some other protein treatments that I used. After I let my hair air dry for about a hr and a half I did a 6 section braid out. I applied Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp then braided it and made sure to add a little bit of Cantu Shea butter to the ends. I was very please with the end results when I took it out to run some errands today.

Wash Day

Relaxed @ 4 Weeks post.
Well I washed my hair on 9/29-30. The night before I decided to do a all night deep conditon on dry hair. So I oil my scalp with my blend of oils and then put in my Elasta QP Soy OYL. Well I didnt get uo right away when I woke up, I decided to relax in the bed for a little while. Bit while I eas relaxing the back of my head started to itch. I proceed to rub it but that made it worst so I went to get in the shower. I did my regular routine with my shampoo and then condition but it only eased the itching for a little while. I did my normal leave-ins, air dry, and then tie down with a scarf but its still itching in the back.
So that was a miss!!!
Doing a little shopping this afternoon will report back soon.

Off day Wash day

Today my oldest son is off for a Jewish holiday and my fiancé is off because this is the day that his job decided to give him. So yeah its a full house and everyone is calling my name. Lets do a run down so you can know the ages. My eldest is 5 will be 6 in December, my second son just turned one this year, and my baby girl will be 2 months of the 1st. So yes a full house with hubby.

Today is a regular wash day when I add my moisturizing deep conditioner which is my Elasta QP DPR-11+. It has a lot of good minerals, vitamins, and essential oils that give your hair the penetrating moisture that it needs. I going to try the whole line since my hair loves the DPR and the Soy OYL Ultra Hydration as my protein treatment. The DPR smells so good and light. I also don't have to us alot to get it to penetrate from tip to root. What I do is part my hair in three sections and start at the bottom and work my way to the top. Put a plastic cap over my hair and sit underneath the dryer from anywhere between 15-30 minutes. Once finish I let that cool down I rinse and then Co-wash with my suave professional. I pin up my hair and let it sit while I finish my shower, rinse with Lukewarm water then with cool. I then apply my leave-in using the L.O.C. Method, that I explained in my last post, which I am finding that it is really helpful with locking moisture in my hair whereas I don't have to keep applying moisturizer thru out the day. I can even go up to two days without putting any moisturizer to my hair which I absolutely love!!!! I then let my hair air dry for about an hour to a hour and a half, then I wrap my hair so I can get it trained to memorize this style and then put my scarf on. Once I feel like its almost completely dry I then apply my Jamaican black castor oil to my scalp, re-wrap and let it finish dry to the next morning.
Since I don't really have to many places to go unless its either appointments or other motherly duties I mainly keep my hair wrapped up to help retain more length.
The pic below is how my hair turns out when I'm done with the process. Shiny, soft, and very moisture.!

After dentist co-wash!

Today my boys had a dentist appointment at 330. My Hubby didn't get off until 300 so that set me back, having to dress myself and the kids, then driving up the street and getting the oldest because he doesn't get out until 340. So I'm in a terrible hurry. We ended up get there at 355 and was still seen in a timely manner. My one year gets he's teeth checked and cleaned first while my oldest gets he's teeth x-rayed. Well when its time for my eldest turn the dentist tells me that he has two cavities that
needs two light fillings. Well that just tops off my crazy day. I just couldn't wait to get home!!!!
To wash my hair! Which is very relaxing for me. Today was just a regular wash day with a conditioner. I'm using currently for a everyday conditioner suave professional aloe Vera & ginseng volumizing conditioner. Then I use my Aussie moist 3 min deep conditioner that I leave in my hair for the rest of the time I'm in the shower. Then I rinse it out using cold water to lock in the moisture.
For me the suave gives me good slip for it being the first time I have used this product. The product is 100% all natural and I think I will be keeping this in my regimen. I'm still building it trying to find out with products works best for my hair problems!
I'm also trying a new method for moisturizing and sealing called the L.O.C. Method.
Liquid.
Oil.
Creme.
I learned this from a hair guru blog that I can't remember at the moment but once I do I will add her name and the website. Anyway the liquid is already the water from when you wash your hair but what I do is add my leave in on my damp hair. My leave-in of choice is my infusieum 23 repair & renew. Then add my all natural oil which is at the moment olive oil. Then my creme which is Cantu shea butter leave in.
When I'm finish I let my hair air dry for about an hour then I wrap it with my satin scarf and when thats done I will put a lil caster oil on my scalp.  Well thats my routine for my Monday co-wash..

Second beginning!!

So I had my second baby within two years and this time its was a girl.
MY FAMILIES COMPLETE!!
But now I have became a SAHM. So I decided three things. First, start to workout, second get really focus on my healthy hair regimen, and third start growing my blog. With my hair journey I always had a passion for hair with braiding, weaves, and other various things. I continue to develop my skills and I would like to include you with my experience!
Well with my workout, I started with the biggest loser workout vid. After I get my oldest ready and off to school. Then get my second little one he's breakfast, I promptly start my workout @ 9. Doing my warm up and and actual exercise takes all about 30 mins. I then get a healthy breakfast and count my calories for the rest of the day.
With my healthy hair journey I actually started in April and really did see results. But I started getting lazy towards the end of my pregnancy. I wasn't really doing my co-washes,  was pushing back my wash days, and most importantly I was not wrapping my hair up at night :-(  So now I started trying knew products to help target my hairs weakness and see what works for my hair. I'm protecting my hair to keep it moisturize and keeping up with my washes. I will keep you posted on any new things I try. I've already become a product junkie!!!!
With growing my blog, I'm doing it now with just writing about my life!!
