Wash Day @ 24 weeks

Since I haven't been consistent with my wash day posts since I was so busy with school work. I wanted to telll you guys that I colored my hair last week with Dark & Lovely Vivacious red. Once I colored it I deep conditioned with Aubrey GPB Balancing Conditioner with out heat for about a hour, then used ApHogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer, and then styled with Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter.

But for the wash days that I have not posted it has been the same routine with no new products.

This wash day I used my staple Camille Rose Naturals Creme Restore Conditioning Cleanser. I detangled with using Curl Junkie Smoothing conditioner and my new Tangle Teezer which I will do a review once I use it a couple more times. But I have used it on my daughters hair and it slid through her hair with ease. Now the rest of my wash day routine I used new things starting with Sarenzo Hair Conditioning Clay Mask which told me to use only a smal amount which I didn't listen to because of how heavy handed I am! But right away I was loving the tingling feeling! I'm upset with myself because I don't know how I skipped putting my leave-in. I guess I was to excited to use this next product. So I basically tested this product out on clean hair which was Cream and Cocps Curls for Days the original formula. I was lucky enough to get a sample of this because of various reasons why I have purchased from the vendor myself. My curls were defined but I wasn't really wowed because my cutls didn't really separate like I would have liked them. They clumped up. So on top of that I used Curl Junkies Curls in a Bottle. Which help to separate and give it a nice hold.

Wash day @ 19 Weeks post Big Chop

Heyyy!

Okay this morning I was on Facebook and someone posted Naptural85 Co-wash Method. Now that I have changed up my washing regimen to strictly co-washing through the winter you know I had to try it. So in her video she basically applies conditioner to her hair, then seals it with her oil mixture, and does a little detangling before pinning it up. She then rinses it out the conditioner, applies cold Aloe Vera juice, and then seals it with oil before rinsing it again.

So for my wash day I applied my staple Ouidad Co-Wash cleanser to dry hair and then sealed it with my oil mixture. Okay once I rinsed it out after adding a little water to lather it up I realize okay this is just like adding extra oils to your conditioner to give you added slip. Don't get me wrong my hair smelled amazing, it did give it added softness, and the slip was definitely on point so I am not complaining. Once I rinsed that out really good my choice of rinse out conditioner/detangler was Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Conditioner. For DC I used Marie Dean Seaweed & Rice deep conditioner and since I was coating my hair with oils I coated this with my oil mixture which I left on for about 2 hours. Last I applied Hairveda Whipped Ends and styled with the Whipped Gelly. I was pleased with the out come but the shrinkage was off the hook!!

How was your Wash Day?!!

Wash Day @ 16, 17, & 18 weeks post

Hey guys

Let me start off by saying these health care classes are really kicking my butt. So I really apologies about the lack of post.

I'm so proud of myself. The past couple of weeks before & this week I have left my hair in a twist protective style. I did not touch my hair at all. When I went out with the girls I put on my half a wig and kept it moving! My hair stayed moisturized from the L.O.C. method using the Camille Rose Natural products. My hair felt to soft and not a rough or dry patch in site!!!! :) This wash day is the beginning of the month so I decided to clarify my hair since I have done it in a good while!

Anyway here's how wash day went on Saturday 16 weeks post
I shampooed my hair once with my Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo. Since this was the first weekend of the month I decided to clarify my hair since I haven't done do in a good while. After I rinsed the shampoo out I detangled with my Aubreys GBP protein treatment. I left this on for about 2 minutes. I wasn't really worried about bring the softness back into my hair because the shampoo stripped my hair but not the drying strip that I hate. Rinsed that out and tied my hair up in a cotton baby burp cloth. I did this just to soak up any excess water before smoothing my deep conditioner through my hair. I used my staple Hairvèda Sitrinilla intense moisturizing deep conditioner. I left this on for a couple of hours with heat and let me tell you this one never seems to fail when I used it. I love the fact that when it touches my hair it is instantly soaked up. Rinsed the conditioner out with cold water and applied my leave ins. Trying to use up the rest of my Camille Rose Naturals Cranberry hair & body lotion, I used this as my leave in. Sealed with a small amount of Hairvèda Vatika Frosting. Recently I swap some things for some new Hairvèda butters so that I can try them before Black Friday. So I used the Hairvèda's Herbal Green Tea butter which only kept my hair moisturized for 3 days. But it did leave a nice shine to my twist. If you follow me on IG you will see that I recruited Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai butter to my staples!

Saturday 17th weeks post
So the next week I used my staple co-wash Ouadid. Oh how I messed the way it felt in my hair. The softness it gives and the smell it brings! I haven't used it in over a month and thanks to one of my favorite swap sister. I am laced in my co wash for well into next year maybe more! Next I used FCA Naturals Invigorating Conditioner for my rinse out and detangler. Another great job was performed from this conditioner. Seriously thinking about adding it to my staples. For my deep conditioner I used Camille Rose Naturals Algae Deep Conditioner. When i first opened it I was taking back at how thick it was. It really looked like a regular sealant butter and not a deep conditioner. Now the one that I have is the one that is in the original packaging not the new one. So I really did know how it was because I first used the samples that I received in my prize from them and that one was really creamy. When I used it I was blown away again because of how moisturized my hair was. I was so soft and moisturized I couldn't keep my hands out of my hair. For leave ins I used my Camille Rose's Lotion and the Almond Jai Butter. I have been kind of changing up my moisturize and seal method by just cutting out the oil and using a butter instead. I found this to be easier on me and been giving my absolutely soft moisturized hair. Remember in a hair journey you have to do what's best for your hair and your hair will respond by growing.

Friday @ 18 weeks post
I decided to color my hair and choose to do it a day early so that I can have Saturday for my self. So I was my hair with a shampoo as directed on the label of my dye. I mixed FCA naturals shampoo & Shea moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo for the lather. I was really happy with the clean feeling that it left. The dye of choice I bought from Sally's and was recommended by the sales lady was Manic Panic in Pillarbox Red. First impression was okay the red came out darker then I wanted and it runs every time I wash my hair. This had never happened with the box dye's I used before so I was not pleased. Not to mention it took forever to rinse out of my hair. I skipped the conditioner and went straight to my deep conditioner. This week I used the last of my Giovanni's Moist Deep condition with hear for about 45 minutes. For leave-ins I used my sample of Hairveda's Whipped Ends and then twisted with the Herbal Green Tea Butter from Hairveda also. Loved this combination also!!!

Enjoyable relaxing wash days! How was your wash day?

Wash day @ 15 weeks + Camille Rose Naturals Review #27 Initial Thoughts

Hey guys!

All week I have been planning on how I was going to go about washing my hair. Reason being is because 1. I recently won a full size Creme Restore Conditioning Cleanser from Camille Rose Naturals and 2. I  did some swaps lately in my group and lucked up on more Camille Rose Natural products including the 2 Algae Deep Conditioner, Almond Jai Twisting Butter, and a Fresh Curl. I was too excited. So I had to plan to incorporate all of these in my wash routine and this is how it went:

  • As directed I detangled before wetting my hair. Once I wet it I took a couple of squirt the size of a half a dollar and applied it to the front. Then did the same to the back. I massaged like directed but also detangled also. THE SLIP IN THIS CONDITIONER IS AMAZING!!! That is all. Rinsed that out in cool water.
  • Detangled some more with, which will now be a staple, Curl Junkie Smoothing Conditioner as my rinse out. I didn't really have to do to much because the cleanser did the majority of the work and I have never experienced that before. Rinsed out in warm water to prepare my hair for the deep conditioner.
  • Now I received 3 samples of Camille Rose Naturals Algae Renew Deep Conditioner. So I used those to test instead of the full size to see how it would react to my hair. 1st I am glad I had three because one would have not done anything. One pack was enough to cover about 1 and a half of a section of my hair. 2nd my hair sucked this conditioner up. It took extremely will that I didn't see a drop of the conditioner anywhere on my hair. Rinsed that out in Cold water after I took a shower and wrapped my head in a cotton t-shirt.
  • For a leave in I used Camille's Cranberry Hair & Body lotion. Sealed FCA Naturals Invigorating Hair Oil. Then as promised on the container I used Camille's Almond Jai Twisting Butter for my Wash N Go. I took my hair little by little and smooth it through my hair and the results were soft MOISTURIZED curls. It was not heavy at all. Really thoroughly whipped giving you a light hold.
Overall I was very pleased with what I used and can't wait til Black Friday so I can try more from this line. Can you see the shine in the pic below. I am truly pleased with this butter.

Thanks for reading!!!

Weight Loss Series: Going Vegan

Hi guys!

I would really like you to join me on my journey as I try to shed some weight and the first step in changing will be my diet. Thus explaining my title!

I remember the last time I had a McDonalds burger. (Sorry for the TMI) When the saliva in my mouth got it nice and soft to swallow. The felling of the chewed up burger in my mouth tasted disgusting and I instantly wanted to throw up. I know your say well that's just McDonalds burgers stop eating from there. Well I always wanted to cut out meat every since my grandmother did it and she retained healthy radiant skin. Being that I also what untilse a drastic amount of weight. I know this will be healthy to my body in so many ways.

When did I decide this? Well one night while laying in bed with hubby. I told him I wanted to go vegan. Yes it was a overnight thing. But I am a person that loves animals and do get teary eyed when I see the 'help the animals' commercials. From there I started to do research on how to become vegan and a good diet course that will help me to transition with out relapsing.

"but where do you get your protein?" - my least favorite question because it only further proves the influence/control the meat industry has over society.I then started my research by typing vegan in on Google and tons of websites popped up. The most important thing that I collect from reading these sites is that, which I will be applying to my diet, to gradually add vegan meals into my diet because I can't tell you how much I am going to miss chicken. So I will start by substituting salads at lunch time. A lot of the articles that I read were very helpful by giving you sample recipes, a example meal plan, grocery lists, and even a vegan starter kit that I have received yet, but when I do I will share what is inside. I also went on Pinterest  finding loads of pins about which foods gives you the most vitamins and minerals that are essential for your body. I know one thing that popped up repeatedly is to know that there is vegetarians, then there are raw vegans, and last there are vegans. A vegetarians mainly eats mostly plant based foods with no animal flesh but may consume some dairy products. Raw vegans eat their you can guess mainly raw meaning no additives or cooking. Lastly some vegans eat foods not made or produce from animals. Another question that must be popping into your head is 'Well if you not in meat where will you be getting your protein?' Pinterest was helpful for providing information on where I can get protein else where besides meat like nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts), leafy greens (romaine lettuce, kale, spinach), and chia seeds. Another question you may have is 'well all vegans do is eat fruits & vegetables there will be no variety?' That is not necessarily true. Whilst browsing Pinterest I found plenty of delicious recipes and different foods to substitute meats.

My Vitmain Mart LogoBeing that I want to start taking more vitamins and substituting my meals(breakfast) for a more protein pack or a simple shake I will be needing a place that has all my needs shipped at once. Places like Vitamin shoppe & GNC are a little on the pricey side also high in shipping being that I have a very limited income. I was contacted about a site that has all of your health needs in one place at a really low price and shipping is a flat rate of 4.95$. DEAL!!! MyVitaminMart.com has everything and I mean everything. They even have some all natural hair care products for our relaxed and natural sistas. One thing that stood out the most to me being that I will be starting a new diet is that they have a Dietary Restriction are that is specially for people that need to avoid certain things like dairy, gluten, or need to get products that are strictly for vegan this eliminates a lot of unnecessary searching. Now the downside to this website it that everything does not have a detailed descriptions that I know some people find necessary. Any I was able to get a coupon code for 5% off of your order until 12/15 Deal. Just enter Randomjamaican5 in the coupon area.

I hope that you found this information helpful and will join me on another journey! Thanks for re

Wash Day @ 14 Weeks + FCA NATURALS REVIEW #26 Initial Thoughts!!

Hey loves

When I randomly pop on to Facebook I sometimes caught a giveaway going on and for the past month I have been lucky enough to win a few giveaways. Well this one I believe was a trivia question that I had answered right. I completely forgot about it due to school work and was pleasantly surprise to get this package in the mail. I received the Invigorating Set which included a full sized shampoo, conditioner, and hair growth oil.

My Initial review from looking at the products is that the package is plain. It is more wording on the label and a small logo in the corner. I love to see the company logo on the package so I can know what product I am using, if it was faded in the background underneath the wording it would give it more of a pop or bigger. I would be more familiar with it by seeing the logo. Here's how I used during wash day:

  • First pre pooing my hair with out heat for about an hour as I fixed breakfast. Making sure that I applied it liberally to my hair. Rinsed it out in warm water.
  • Next as directed I applied the shampoo directly to my scalp and massaged in not expecting a later. Now right off back the first thing that hit my senses was the strong scent of peppermint. My preferred scents a more of a floral or sweet. I'm not even a person that likes to each peppermint on the regular. It didn't have a lather just like the directions stated. But I did feel the peppermint open up my pores and my hair did have clean feel to it. Like most shampoos that I find out in the beginning I have amazing results, but then down the round my hair feels like straw. This shampoo did leave my hair nice and soft so that was a plus. The shampoo's second ingredient is water so that is exactly what the consistency is like. Water. Making it very easy to apply to my scalp in sections or what every way you would like. That is a plus plus!
  • Next the directions stated to apply a generous amount of conditioner to hair and work from root to tip. So that is what I did and my usual detangling process. The texture of this conditioner is like a thick frothy milk. Yes the texture of a milkshake. I can tell you that it had loads of slip. My shed hair's came out with ease. But a down side to it was that it also smelled strong of peppermints. Now I know that peppermints help promote hair growth but that is just one smell that is to strong for me. Hubby could smell me before I came out of the bath with was not a good thing from the look on his face. I left this on for about 4 minutes and the rinsed with warm water.
  • Next I deep conditioned with a staple. Shea moisture deep treatment masque for over a hour with heat. I love this deep conditioner is all that I can say.
  • Once that was rinsed out I wrapped my baby cloth around my hair to soak up the extra water before smoothing Shea moisture Moisture Retention Conditioner. I sealed it with the hair growth oil that came with the set. Again it smelled like peppermint. I love oils and after a few minutes when my hair started to dry I could hardly smell it anymore. Last I styled with As I Am Curl Jelly which went on fine and dandy, but once dried my hair was hard. NO Bueno! FAIL!
Overall I would like to use these products one more time to have a good sense on how I feel about the products.

Review #25: Blue Roze Beauty

Blue Roze Beauty was featured in the first subscription box from Honey Bee Inspired Box Inc, that is how I was able to try the product before buying it. It was a full size item which is 8oz. Theses are some of the benefits of having a subscription box where you can get to sample a product line so you won't feel like your going to buy from them blind.

Strawberry Hibiscus Deep Conditioner- 8 oz: 13.99$

Ingredients: Distilled w/ hibiscus & marshmallow root, Aloe Vera juice,  Cupuacu butter, Tucuma butter, Horsetail butter, Bhringraj infused olive oil, Bentonite clay, Btms, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG-40 Castor oil, Stearalkonium Chloride honeyquat, fragrance, & preservative.

Promises: strawberry hibiscus deep conditioner will intensely moisturize, repair and define your curls.
Strawberry hibiscus deep conditioner is made with cupuacu butter which is well known for its high fatty acid content which benefits dry, damaged hair while protecting moisture and leaving hair soft and silky.
Bentonite clay naturally nourishes the hair follicle, imparts sheen, and naturally enhances the curl pattern of hair.

My Review: I only was able to get 4 uses out of the 8 oz container which was not a plus for me. The consistency of this deep conditioner reminded me of lotion like in between thick and runny. I prefer my deep conditioners to be on the thick side. You know when you turn the container over it doesn't move. When it is thicker to me I feel that a little goes a long way and it doesn't take much to coat my hair. It did have awesome slip. Separating my curls with out me having to run my hands through it.
The smell of the deep conditioner was like freshly washed strawberry's. Every time I opened the container I could help but take a big sniff.
My first time using was on freshly washed and conditioned hair. As you can see in the pic I applied it to half my head to see how my hair would take it. I was extremely please at how my curls started to define and absorb the conditioner. Each time I did leave it on for over a half an hour with heat because I would see better results doing it this way. After wards my hair always felt soft and even my color seem to pop more.
Shipping is a flat rate of 6.95$ and customer service is very timely. I have had to talk to the owner several times and she seems very nice.

Will I be Re Purchasing? Even though I give it a A I am still on the fence about the amount I receive  the price, and how many uses I get out of it. I did do a wonderful job of conditioning my hair.

Wash Day Not Really @ 13 Weeks post

Hi Ladies

The not really is because I washed my hair during the week when I took my braids out so today I used a co-wash cleanser instead.
  1. Rinsed hair with warm water for about 5 minutes to try to get a good amount of any products I had on my hair and to open up my cuticles. Then used Bel nouvo Creamy Castor Custard as my deep conditioner for 45 minutes with heat.
  2. Cleansed with my staple Ouidad Curl Co-Wash. Lathered it up really good making sure to massage my scalp to rid it of any products.
  3. For my conditioner rinse out I used Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Smoothing Conditioner. I also detangled with this in the shower and left on my hair for the remanded of my shower.
  4. While still dripping wet I smoothed on my strands another staple which is Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner. Sealed that with about a quarter size of Hairveda Vatika Hair Protection Frosting. I have been using this for over a month now and have loved it every time I used it. For a styler I been working on making a styler for a couple of months now and yesterday finally got it the way that I wanted it. So I used that yesterday and today again to refresh my curls. I first spritz my hair with my spritz mixture and then raked the styler through my hair. Gave my hairs a few shakes and all I can say is YESSS! I love it.
Very easy co wash day like always. How was your wash day I would love to know below! HHJ!!

Transitioning Tips

I know that I am not transitioning any more but I wanted to tell you guys some tips I learned while transitioning to natural.

1. It is not wise to type your hair.

Now if you find that it helps you much and it works, keep doing it. But most time when you do and you find that your hair is not looking like others it just leads to disappointment. Believe me I'm not saying it is wrong but you could be chasing a dream down a endless road.

2. Do what's best for you and your hair.

Don't let these veteran naturals tell you what to do with your hair. First of all it is YOUR HAIR! Your the one that has to live with it. Your the one that has to wear it on your head. Your the only one growing it.

3. Being a "product junkie" is not necessarily a bad thing.

Once you go natural how are you to know what works for your hair and what doesn't. You'll have some things your hair loves, some things your hair hates and some things your hair will get use to. An then what? Things happen along your journey like being protein sensitive or being allergic to a certain ingredient. Yes I understand that is why you get samples but if you get samples form every product line of every one of there products, then you will become a sample junkie. An some companies don't even give you enough in their one little same pack so then you end up get more then one. All this just to see if you will like the product.

4. Read the Ingredients.

The best thing to do for your hair and yourself is to read the products label. My advice would be to try and seek out all natural product makers, but if your unable to do that have to go to the locate store/beauty supply to pick up you everyday needs. Stop for a minute and go over the label. Those words that you have never heard of or are unable to pronounce may be bad for you. Now at the base of your hair stand is the bulb and what supplies the strand to grow is blood. If your opening up your hairs cuticles and letting harmful chemicals seep through then there going right to your blood stream. Which is potentially hazards to you and can lead to cancers or long term illness because these agents are not meant for those kind of use. Water should be the first ingredient or in the first couple of names. Water based products give your hair optimal moisture.

5. Water & Oil is your best friend.

I know they don't mix but in your hair journey they definitely do.
You can have not a product in on your shelf. But as long as you have some rain water and oil your hair will be more then find. Oil is the perfect sealant be you relaxed or natural. Just make sure that they penetrate your hair and not just sit on top of it.

Wash Day @ 12 weeks post

Heyy!

Okay Okay. I know I am an product junkie because I took my braids out at only 2 1/2 weeks. TERRIBLE!! I don't know why but I really missed my hair. I missed looking at my curls and watching YouTube videos of my favorite naturalistas running their fingers through the luscious curls. That was definitely not happening. I got to tell you that taking them out was nice and easy so I will be purchasing the hair again. I was able to take them out within a half an hour. While I was detangling I noticed that my hair was extremely soft and well moisturized.

Now once I took them out here is what I did:

  • Shampooed with Joico K-pak Color Therapy Shampoo. Once really well massaging my scalp to clean the dirt that was at the base of my braids.
  • Next I used Curl Junkie's Curl Assurance Smoothing conditioner as a rinse out. Even though my hair was already detangled very good. This had good slip, but I will still be trying it again next wash day to see how it works when I haven't detangled before hand.
  • Deep conditioned with Marie Dean Seaweed & Rice deep conditioner. I left this on for over 2 hours with out heat. But I was cooking in the kitchen so I know I generated some body heat to warm my hair up.
  • Only squeeze out the excess water I then used Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Conditioner, sealed with Hairveda Vatika oil, and the styled with a sample pack of Edens Body Works Coconut Shea All Natural Pudding Soufflé.
I loved how my curls were defined with this pudding. Once it was dry which took about 2 hours maybe more. I twisted it up for the night. I have A LOT of pillow packs so I will be trying to use them to see how they work on my hair. I'm thinking I maybe reinstalling my braids for the fall because I love how soft and moisturized my hair. The below pic is how my hair turned out after taking out my twist today!

Review #24: Simple Living Soaps

Hi Ladies

I know it is been a while since I did a post but school life is extremely time consuming and with 2 toddlers. That doesn't make the experience any better. Being that I started to convert my staples to more all natural lines I think it would be best to start using other things that are all naturally for a more healthy life style.
Rock Road Natural SoapSo this post will be a review on my last Random Spotlight. I received these soaps as a gift from one of the lovely group of ladies I associate with on Facebook. It was a complete surprise and thought I had ordered something but when I seen that it came from right here in Vegas I know that it had to be from someone else. I truly enjoyed featuring Mrs. Marcy on my blog and I am overly excited to be bring this review to you of her soaps. Being that her soaps are natural I don't know where to begin on the skincare benefits you can gain from switching to handmade soaps vs. store brands. But here are a few:

  • Handmade soaps are Chemical free
  • Handmade soaps carry moisture retaining properties
  • Handmade soaps carry anti-oxidants
  • Handcrafted Soap Offers Healing & Curative Properties
  • THE SMELL, THE SMELL. THE SMELL........

I want to get a full size bar of Nevada Rain because not only does it smell heavenly I know that she goes up & beyond putting effort into her products. You see it hardly rains in Nevada. Sometimes it is short bust of a down pour, then next thing you know the sun is out and you miss it. Then there are times when there is a down pour so strong that there is a flood watch and you have to stay indoors.  Now I never used handmade soaps before and was doing some research on who to buy from during Black Friday. Getting this load really broke my handmade soap virginity and I am also happy that it was from Mrs. Marcy.

As you can see to the picture to the right and below that these are some thick pieces of soap. Every one of my soap was a very hefty weight of 5 oz or more. So I know theses soaps will last me long past December maybe longer, but I will still be stocking up. The price in the US is a flat rate of 5.60$ for over a 1 lb and anything less then that is 3.50$ which is not bad at all. You can get all the soap you want no matter the weight and it is one rate. The soaps came pretty green wrapping paper with the name of each soap on the outside. I also received a pretty red lace soap bag to hold my soap. But since these bars are so big all of them could not fit in a bag so I had to put them in a box instead.

I first started using the fruit loop soap because the smell was out of this world. I mean it was so bad every time I walked passed it I had to pick it up and take a huge sniff of it cause it smells that good. Another thing about natural products is that *EVER BATCH VARIES*. In other worlds one batch may have a slight different color change, or the consistency may not be as thick or as light, or the smell may not be as strong. The reason I say this that my fruit loop soap, although it smells fantastic, didn't lather as strong as my TWA soap. The TWA soap lathered up soo well and I only had a little slice off of my huge bar. This is my first time using these kind of soaps so I didn't know if that was a normal thing or not. So when I asked Mrs. Marcy (who responded back extremely quickly) she told me that the TWA had a longer cured time then the Fruit loop loaf so that explained a lot. Being that the TWA is a all over bar I was glad that I didn't have to worry bout if it was going to harm the lady down stairs, but she was fine. My skin after using both soaps felt really soft. More so when locking in the moisture with the body oil. The next day my skin was not dry and ashy like the next. This rarely happens because once you lay in your bed all that work in buttering up your skin is gone! I loved the presentation of the oil which still had pieces of herbs floating in the bottle. Knowing that it is still being infused as it is sitting on my shelf makes my skin happy(lol). This oil smelled just like the cup cake lotion but a little lighter. Now let me tell you about the lotion. It is like a body butter in a lotion bottle. That bad boy was thickkkk like I like it, but still smooth on like a lotion. If you would like anymore information about this line or to purchase. The links are down below and don't forget to like Simple Living Soaps Facebook page.

Will I be repurchasing: Yes I wasn't disappointed about these soaps in anyway. I believe I have converted over! (LOL)

MY GRADE= A-
(Once I tried the other soaps I will report back on IG on how they were)

Wash day @ 10 weeks post

Hey guys

Wow! I can't believe it has been 10 weeks since I "Big Chopped". Time has really passed by that it hasn't felt like that much time has passed. Saturday's wash day I will preparing my hair for braids. I also did a porosity test on my hair after I shampooed. I let my strands air dry and then placed them in a cup of water. After about 5 minutes in the cup my results showed that I have low porosity. Anyway here is how my wash day went:

  • Started off detangling my hair with Ynobe shop Pre poo treat w/amla oil. I thoroughly detangled my hair for about a half hour.
  • Shampooed with Giovanni ultra moist shampoo. When I used it my hair felt squeaky clean and not moisturized like I wanted. So I used Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo and that did not help. My hair felt reallllly clean after using both so I guessed they served their purpose.
  • Remember I mentioned last wash day that I made some hair tea. Well I didn't forget to use it this week and soaked my hair with the tea. I'm in need of a new spray bottle because this one doesn't spray anymore.  :( I then coated that with my trusty Aubrey's GPB Balancing Conditioner. After rinse this combination out my hair felt like how it was supposed too. :)
  • Next I wanted to give my hair a hard protein treatment. So while I was at the beauty Supply store I couldn't find the treatment I was looking for so I bought IC Fantasia Vitamin/Protein Re-constructor that I left in for a minute as directed.
  • After rinsing that out I wanted to use a moisturizing deep conditioner. After debating on which dc to use in my stash I settled on Koils by Nature Hydrating Shealoe Creamy Conditioner. I left this on for over 3 hours under a cap with no heat.
  • For leave ins I used Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner, sealed with Hairveda Vatika Oil, and for my cream I used TGIN Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer. I didn't use it when I was transitioning and wanted to save it for when I was fully natural and I am glad I did because I really liked how it locked everything in. When I take my hair out I will try it again because I like how it was thick but still felt light on my hair.

I feel that this combination did good for prepping my hair for the installation.Once I am finished my braids I will post pictures on IG. How was your wash day?

Wash day @ 9 weeks post

Hey
I have come to realize that I have bottles just sitting on my shelf that I use a couple of times and just like looking at them. Time for me to do a clean out stash of things I'm just letting sit and make way for restocking staples! Project clean stash begins! Black Friday is around the corner and need to know what is on my list and what is not!

Let's get to it:

I pre pooed this week with Hairveda Moist Condition 24-7. I gave this a try as a co wash during the week and my hair felt so moist that I had to see what other way I can use it. The directions say use it as a rinse out & DC so I will be trying that next. Rinsed out with cool water.

Cleansed with Jessicurls Hair Cleansing Cream 2x. This bottle is the same one that I had from a swap earlier this year. I thought it was a little left to do just one last wash. But nope I can do one more.

I made some more hair tea but whilst in the mist of cleaning I forgot all about the tea in the sink until today! So I did my usual conditioner rinse with Aubreys GPB balancing conditioner. I left this on for about 4-5 minutes while I scrubbed out the tube. Rinsed with warmer water to open my hair cuticles.

Deep conditioned with Blue Roze Beauty Strawberry Hibiscus Deep Conditioner. I used this with a cap on and went outside for a little bit to work up some heat. This was left on for about 2 hours. I used every last drop of this conditioner and gladly can say this is my first used up product in my stash. Yay! Rinsed out with cold water.

For leave ins I used Shea Moisture Moisture Retention. Sealed with my oil mixture and to define my curls I used my diy flaxseed gel. I have very soft second day hair with this mixture but yesterday my hard had a slight hardness to it.

How was your wash day? Also what is on your Black Friday list?

Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Line Review #23*

Hey Folks!

If you follow me on IG, which I hope you do, I posted a couple different products I was sent for review and Elasta QP was one of them. I was truly excited to try this line be I love there deep conditioners. I was sent 4 things from there Olive & Mango line. A shampoo, leave in, curl pudding, & a glaze. The only thing I didn't use was the glaze because that is more for straighten your hair. When I do straighten my hair I will let you guys know how it went. I have used other products from their line which was the DPR-11+ Deep Penetrating Remoisturizing Conditioner, the Soy OYL Ultrahydration Moisture Rich Deep conditioner, and the original Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer. Sitting her writing I am think about revisiting the DPR-11+ because during my transition my hair absolutely loved it and it really did last. I sent Elasta QP a email a little while back that I forgot all about it. When I did receive a response back I was greeted with very apologetic well detailed conversation. My goodies were also shipped out extremely fast too with tracking so that gives extra points for the great customer service I received.

Here is a little information about the product line:

The all-new Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter collection addresses the needs of consumers with kinky-coily, curly, wavy and frizzy hair patterns, providing a solution that will help them achieve curly to straight looks, braids and other protective styles. Offering the strengthening power of olive oil combined with softening mango butter, Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Collection enables ease of styling for natural-haired consumers and those transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair, commonly referred to as “transitioners.” Elasta QP’s Olive Oil & Mango Butter Collection is comprised of five anti-breakage products (Moisture Shampoo, Leave-In HR Conditioner, Growth Moisturizer, Growth Oil, and Leave-In Conditioner) as well as three styling products (Curl Defining Pudding, Moisturizer and Curl Wax) that help heal split ends, smooth frizz, define curls and add brilliant shine to tresses. Available this fall, each product in the Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Collection retails for less than seven dollars

DIRECTIONS: Shampoo and rinse hair well. Spray Leave-In H2 liberally into hair. Gently comb through hair. DO NOT RINSE. Style as desired. For straightening curls, waves or smoothing frizz, blow dry hair.

The leave in I used after i deep conditioned and sealed in with a oil. I can say my hair was well hydrated that day so that was a good thing. But I really wasn't to wowed away at the time. I feel if I use it more over time I will then see the results. I do prefer spray leave ins because I have fine hair and I don't what a heavy coat before I add anymore product to my hair. When I sprayed it out of the bottle it was a nice air mist that coated my hair really nicely. I did also use it as a refresher before retouching my hair.

Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisture Shampoo- 12oz 7.99
Perfect for natural, braided and straight styles to help soften, moisturize and cleanse.

INGREDIENTS: Aqua, Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate, Mangifera Indica Seed Butter/Mango Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit/Shea Butter, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olive Oil, Argania Spinosa Nut Oil/Argan Oil, Cocos Nucifera Oil/Coconut Oil, Tocopherol, Glycine Soja Oil/Soybean Oil, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract/Aloe Vera Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract/Rosemary Extract,Glycol Stearate, Polyquaternium 10, DMDM Hydantoin, Cocamide MEA, Citric Acid, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Daucus Carota Sativa Root Oil/Carrot Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Benzyl Benzoate, d-Limonene, Hexyl cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool.

DIRECTIONS: Smooth onto wet hair. Gently massage scalp and work lather into hair from roots to ends. Use finger combing to help ease out tangles and remove build-up. Rinse and repeat. For best results, use Mango Butter Leave-in Conditioner after rinsing shampoo.

So lets talk about the shampoo. I used it on 2 different wash days and both times gotten the same results. It was to harsh for my hair. It was strip cleaned and left my hair hard at the same time which I never experienced before. To me it was not moisturizing at all. Other people have felt differently from what I researched, but for me it was a huge no no. It didn't any slip at all. So there was no aiding in my detangling process. As you can see in the picture the texture is thick like honey with a cream like color to it. It may be packed with oils and so moisturizing essentials, it just wasn't felt on my hair.

Texturizers can define curls and waves.

Co washed, left damped , then applied leave in, sealed with oil, last added Elasta Qp
Okay! So I used this one product ever which a way you can use a defining product and I ABSOLUTELY love it!! I first used it after sealing it in my leave in conditioner. Raking a little bit of the product thought my hair and smoothing it to the ends. When I am done I shake my hair to let some air really hit my curls and when this happens they really start to put. I also used this as a moisturizer when I have a old wash n go that is dry and lacking moisture. This pudding really except my shrinkage by giving my TWA loads of curls. I seen no flakes on my shoulders after drying. Also no hard crunches over here. LOL. The texture of this looks exactly like melted butter. it has a nice yellowish tint to it and melts away as soon as applied. I have add this to my staples because it is just that good on my hair. When I had my bad wash day last week this was what I grabbed to get my curls back to normal. I may try others but i know through out the week I will go back and use this so way some how.

Overall: All of these products smell the same to me which was a buttery mango smell. I absolutely love the smell. It lingers and last for a long time. It is more like a mist fragrance that leaves a light trail after leave the room and whenever you shake your head. The new package is a huge improvement to me because it can now be spotted and stands out on the shelf so you won't miss it. The jars have a nice wide open mouth esstenial in a naturals journey to make sure that you get ever last goody drop. Also 15 oz of product for under 7 is more then a bargain it is definitely a steal.

Will I repurchase? The shampoo I definitely would not repurchase not even to clarify because I did not like how my hair reacted  to it! The leave in I would like to give it a few more chances to see how it really conditions my hair over time. The pudding HELLLL YES! It is now a staple!

My Grade: A- only because of the shampoo!

Wash Day @ 8 Weeks Post

Hi ladies!

Well today I did a very foolish thing because I didn't know that I needed to run some errands.

Anyway I did what I always do on wash day when I first wake up in the morning which is apply my pre poo. This was sitting on my head for about a hour in a half when hubby says we need to do some things because he for got. I let the pre poo stay on for about a hour in a half. I had to take a shower before we left so I co washed my hair with Ouidad to get the pre poo out. I couldn't go out with any leave ins so I then used my Shea moisture leave in and styled with The Modern Hippie Hair Gunk. Mean I was a little heated in the back of my head because I had my was day all planned out. But I thought to myself F*** it. It's my hair I will do what I planned.

So I clarified my hair with Giovanni's Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating shampoo twice to make sure that I felt my scalp tingle and everything was washed from my hair. I haven't did a treatment in my hair in a good while so I used 4naturals Reconstructor. I will have to right a review to tell you guys my experience. Rinsed that out, after 5 minutes with no cap on, with warm water to open up my hair shaft. Deep conditioner with Ambrosia Hair Coco Passion Honey Hair Nectar (newbie) with a cap for over 2 hours. Last I applied my usual leave ins and let my hair air dry.

Okay now I wanted to try somethings out so I used Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie & Eco styler gel. Can you say huge Fail. My hair said no way honey. I had to go wash my hair again so it felt like I washed out the deep conditioner. I tried again using something else and the same results. I finally just had to use Elasta QP Curl Defining Pudding to get my curls to look the way I want.

Today was the worst wash day I had since I started my journey!!!! Have you experienced a bad wash day I would love to hear about it below!
Thanks for reading!

Now I am trying to keep my products to 90% all natural. But when it comes to getting that you can only find  the majority of all natural products online. At stores like target & walmart there is such a limit. This is only to where I live now because in Baltimore walmart had a whole section dedicated to ethnic hair care products. Now some natural hair makers have deals on shipping like Obia Natural Hair care has a flat rate for shipping which is 2.99$ and then TGIN has free shipping on all of there full size products which is a steal. So I am trying to do a mix where I get my products from the store an online to try my best in helping small business owners. But still sticking to products that I know works for my hair. But the problem is the product junkie in me loves so many different things that it is had for me to just choose only a few. But I will continue to update so check back.
