Wash Day @ 30 Weeks Post

Hey ladies
Lets get straight to it.

  • Pre-pooed with Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque, Their Volumizing Conditioner, my arsenal of oils, and what I could get out of my Giovanni Smooth as Silk DC. I applied this on dry hair and left this on for about a hour. Rinsed.
  • Shampooed with (a newbie) Garlic Shampoo 1x and then 1x with my Joico k-pak Shampoo then rinsed.
  • Next I used Aubrey Organics Balancing Conditioner. I left this on while I got and mix my deep conditioner. When I was rinsing this out, my hair felt really really soft, I might switch and use this instead of my PMSSDT.
  • After that I applied my deep conditioner that consist of the last bit of the giovanni, Aunt Jackie's In Control( I only have a little left for one more wash day so I have to restock), and Roux 233 Moisture Recovery. I left this on with heat for 45 minutes and without for 5-10 minutes. Rinsed.
  • I detangled with my shower comb and only got a little bit of shedding. This was the part where I add my leave-in, but I got half way through with the rods and realized that i didn't put any leave-in in. So. Yeah. I just used my Moitions wrapping lotion to set my hair on the rods.

So apart from the no leave-in, it was a quick wash day. I did everything in I'll say about 5 Hours, when I usually take the whole day to wash. (Happy Dance)

Random Spotlight: Global Couture

Hey Ladies

This post is highlighting another small business that again I found on twitter. Let me tell you guys besides Facebook, Twitter is another wonderful place to meet interesting people. Anyway I seen a pic on twitter with these amazing hand crafted earrings and bows. I just had to know more about this company. I did some digging on her website and was wowed by all the beautiful pieces that she has featured on the site. So because I love supporting small businesses I asked to feature her on my blog and she agreed. This was another interview that I truly enjoyed. It is nice to meet strong goal focused females with businesses because you can tell that your going to get quality products. But I'll just let this interview speak for itself. (click on highlight link to go to website)

  1. What made you decide to start your business?

I decided to begin Global Couture 2 years ago when I noticed I couldn’t find any accessories or natural hair apparel (mainly T shirts) I wanted to wear, that reflected my new consciousness.  I would like to think I have always been a creator, because I have always enjoyed crafting and creating beautiful things. During the day, I am a tenured college counselor and full time doctoral candidate completing my dissertation. So, my designs have also become a creative outlet from these very cerebral tasks.

  1. What is your main goal for your company?

Global Couture is an expression of my love for travel, self-exploration, cultural expression, and creativity. Global Couture designs hair accessories, jewelry, & apparel for the bold, chic, and culturally curious. Global Couture is trying to spread the word about embracing your natural hair and its reflection of our history. “Loving your hair represents loving yourself.” Love your curls, if they are wavy, curly, kinky or coily.

  1. Are you natural? If so tell me a little about yourself and your hair journey?

Yes, I am natural! I love natural hair! Much of my inspiration for Global Couture comes from the various natural hair communities (via blogs, natural hair meet-ups, and YouTube) which I so joyously joined nearly two years ago.  Global Couture is an expression of my love for travel, self-exploration, cultural expression, and creativity. “Going back to my roots” during this natural hair journey has been truly self-affirming. Through this journey, I fell in love with the freedom, self-expression, and renewed confidence fostered by a simple ‘hairdo’ change. I found quickly it was more than a hair style change, it became a lifestyle change. I began to take more risks outside of the expected and mainstream forms in beauty, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories. I believe this ‘mini’ transformation paired with my travels through South American, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean has added to my appreciation for various forms of beauty, personal expression and culture expression.

  1. Is there anything else you would like the readers to know?

We are open for business at Global Couture!!  Global couture currently sells T-shirts, hair accessories, bow ties, earrings, phone cases, totes, and other novelty items such as coffee mugs.

My vision for Global Couture is to enhance the natural beauty in all of us from the inside-out.

Review #6: Epiphany Scents*

Hey Guys

This product I seen on twitter. It had tons of great retweets about how much they loved their product. So you know I got the itch and I just had to scratch it. I sent the lovely Ms. Rebecca Freeman a tweet and I received my parcel a couple of days later. She currently has frosting, candles, and scrubs in all different wonderful scents.

Shea Whipped Body Frosting 8oz- 14.99$

Promises & Directions: Pure Shea, Virgin Coconut oil, Avocado oil, Sweet Almond oil, Grapeseed oil, Mango butter,Aloe, and fragrance blended into a moisturizing creme that promotes properties which soften and improves dry skin with daily use. Apply a dime size amount to damp skin for best use; leaves skin silky, healthy and lightly frangranced.

My Review: The smell is the light and florally, not to heavy but not to soft. It reminds me of summer flowers. I absolutely loved it. After i showered with my scented body wash then put this on it really took me to another place. The packaging is different. It's not like the usually tubs, cause this one has angles. The label is nice and classy too, with the lace trim. The texture is light. As soon as I gather some up on my finger it instantly melts, making it very easy to apply. Don't need to much or you'll be greasy. Just like the directions a dime size amount is all that you need.

Will I be repurchasing this product: Definitely would!!!! The price, consistence, and smell will keep me coming back for more.

My Grade- A+

I did have a picture from when i first got it but I got a new phone so some pictures where lost. So this is a picture of excessive use of the product.

Overall each product served its purpose plus some. I love that each product is detailed so things you can not pronounce is hyphened with the term that we do know.
Package is plain but yet simple for easy storage or travel. Also the letter smears off when you get so product on your hand.
Smell is not powerful. Its more of a earthy, citrus smell that doesn't bother me at all. I perferre a perfume smell to my products but I like that this one is all natural giving it a earthy smell.

Texture is thick and creamy. It is well whipped, light, and fluffy. With each cream a little does go a long way and for the price that's 2 pluses in my book.

Will I repurchase this products again, The moisturizer, body cream, and face cream I would definitely get again, but the styler I am still on the fence because it left my hair feeling weighed down. For the face cream, after i did my usual face routine I applied a dab on my forehead, cheeks, and chin and smoothed over my face as directed. The smell leaves my face smelling earthy and natural which I like. My face afterwards does not feel oily and I'm not wiping away grease if i do sweat. Usually I sweat after I apply a face moisturizer, but with this product I didn't and I really loved that. The body cream i applied after I showered. I even used it on my sons skin and they seemed to love it. It took my a little time to rub it in, but afterwards my skin felt silky smooth. The moisturizer was not heavy, it was nice and light on my hair.
My Grade A-   because the styler left my hair heavy.

Taking Down my Sew-in Protective style Wash day @ 29 weeks post

Well it's time. I'm totally ready to take out this sew-in and give my hair a much need rest before putting another on in for my birthday. My birthday is on the 29th. So I want to install my hair on the 28th. That will give my hair a weeks worth of relaxation.

I'm going to give you guys a quick run down of what I did to my hair while in the protective style.
I oiled my scalp 4 days out of the week. I didn't wash my hair and I had my satin bonnet on a lot of the time to protect my hair. I hardly Flat iron my leave out. I would see I did it twice. But i did moisturize it a lot. I kept it simple because I was moving and had a lot of this to do so i made sure to oil my scalp at least.

Okay for the process of taking out my extentions. I took my fingers and felt for loose string and cut them. I did this to each row and the my weaving cap. Then I comb out each braid taking out all my shed hair and string that was left over in my hair.

  •  I pre-pooed with ORS replenishing pak. I used 2 packs, coconut oil, and my oil arsenal. Rinsed that out.
  • Then I touched up my new growth (I retained about a 1 inch) with Softsheen Hi Rez in red. Processed for 30 minutes and the washed out.
  • Shampooed with the conditioning shampoo packet that came with the kit.
  • Than shampooed with my Joico K-pak color therapy shampoo. Rinsed with cool water.
  • Applied the Aubrey Organics GPB balancing Conditioner for 2 to 5 mins as directed. This I received in the March curlkit box. I used this in place of my PMSSDT.
  • Next I mixed the conditioner that came in the kit, the Giovanni that I received in the February curlkit, and my Aunt Jackie's in control deep conditioner. I left this on my head for a hour. A half an hr with just the turban cap I got in my curlkit and the other half with my mother in law's Gold n Hot jumbo bonnet dryer. When we came and I seen this bad boy in the closet I was I overjoyed. I don't mind looking like predator for a half an hour as long as I know my strands are properly moisturize.
  • Once I rinsed the conditioner out my hair felt truly soft. I should have been invested in some type of heat source for my conditioner. I then applied the CHI Thermal Silk Infusion for 5 minutes to see if this would keep my hair moisturize once i blow dried it. I pick this up because 1. it was on sale and 2. I can't seem to find my dark and lovely anti-reversion serum. So i used this in place of that. To me it didn't really do any difference my hair still felt dry, but I will try again.
  • I blow dried my hair on low after I detangled it with Aunt Jackie's Knot on my watch. Using this as a leave in also. Then spraying my hair with my Tresseme's heat tamer.
  • Last I flat ironed my hair with my new flat iron. I miss my old flat iron because this one seem to suck all the moisture out of my hair and making it look frizzy.

So It was a fairly productive wash day!!
